Here is the first Lockdown Lecture featuring the Stockton & Darlington Railway. It lasts about 25 minutes, so feel free to grab a cup of tea/glass of something and tune in. As it is the first one it is not entirely glitch free (especially if you use subtitles) but we’re getting there (as the old BR advert used to say). Look out for more coming in the series soon.
Lockdown Lecture 1. The Stockton & Darlington Railway – the railway that got the world on track.
Brilliant idea, well done, thank you Caroline and Co
Great talk Caroline. I assume it will be promoted as a teaching aid?
Thank you George. Now that we have done this first talk, I am thinking about how best to reach a wider audience and also to improve it. I’ll certainly look into whether it would be useful as teaching aid.
HiCaroline. Dave Pennington here. Just in awe of yr presentation. Just want to send it to everyone! Looking forward to round 2. Peter tells me yr already thinking of the potential of the series on DVD. I will be in the market to post to those I can’t reach by Internet. Do hope the feasibility study on Royal George is not seriously hampered by this lockdown. Stay safe and keep up the great work. DaveP
Thank you so much Dave. Lockdown Lecture 2 has just gone live. This one is quite a bit longer which I didn’t really want to happen, but it’s only because quite a lot survives! The next planned talks will be on Myth Busting and Celebrations. I hadn’t thought of putting them on DVD to be honest. Do you think there are enough people without access to YouTube to make it worthwhile? On the Royal George – I don’t think there will be too long a delay. The report won’t be ready for end July, but Rob has still been meeting with people using video technology. This strange period has forced a lot of us to learn new skills which is a good thing! Do keep safe Dave and I hope to see you fit and healthy at a future Friends’ meeting before too long. x
