S&DR Fridge Magnets

These lovely little fridge magnets feature some of the key personalities and engines from the Stockton & Darlington Railway which will be commemorating its 200th anniversary in 2025. You can’t find these anywhere else as each one is hand made and uses recycled materials. Each magnet is 2.5cm in diameter with a strong magnet on the back suitable for holding shopping lists, postcards, or a photo of the dog on to the fridge or filing cabinet door. The magnets feature:

  • Locomotion No.1
  • Royal George
  • A typical chaldron waggon
  • Edward Pease
  • George Stephenson
  • Timothy Hackworth
  • Set of 6.

These little works of art look good enough to eat, so please keep them out of the reach of young children.

These little fridge magnets have been lovingly made by R. Stevenson. No, not THAT R. Stevenson, the world famous lighthouse engineer who also had a hand in the S&DR, but Rosalyn Stevenson.

Rosalyn is an artist and graphics designer who studied at Art College and then Salford University. She worked in television in Manchester and London and then lectured in Art and Design in London. She has left the capital now (so that she can have a dog) and is now creating distinctive and affordable art where each piece has an element that is recycled or made using found materials. Rosalyn based the designs of these magnets on original 19th century engravings which we provided which she then hand tinted.
