1975 Rectangular Glass Dish Commemorating the Opening of the S&DR in 1825 (vintage)

A  white rectangular glass dish with clear border, produced for the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 1975. It features Locomotion No.1, designed by George Stephenson, the Royal George designed by Timothy Hackworth in 1827, the Derwent of 1845 made at Kitching’s Foundry (go see it in Darlington) and Auckland of 1839. It also features a map of the route of the S&DR as it was on the opening day in 1825 and even includes the Darlington and Yarm branches.

The dish measures 21.5cm long and 8 cm high.

A useful rectangular dish suitable for dropping jewellery/cufflinks into before going to bed, or displaying chocolate trains when you have guests around. That sort of thing.
